The Botton Village Charity Trust benefited by £181 following this Stableford Competition, played with the course in excellent condition.

Ladies Peacock Cup
A bogey or par competition may not he a popular event, but is a true challenge for a golfer. The trophy was presented to the ladies by Mrs Peacock when she left the area and moved to Barnard Castle in 1952.

YLCGA Centenary Tournament 2000
Six handicapper, Gillain Petrie, partnered by 32 handicapper Sharon Potter, had an excellent 4 & 3 victory over Thirsk & Northallerton in the semi final of the competition and now go forward to play at Alwoodley Golf Club on a date to be arranged.
Elga Millenium Amateur Foursomes
Stella Shepherd & Shirley Somasundrum recorded a 2 & 1 win over ladies from Cocksforth Golf Club in the third round of this competition and are looking forward to the next round.

Junior Open
A field of 52 golfers all under the age of 18 lined up in the hope of becoming the year 2000 Bedale Junior open champion and perhaps the become the next Tiger Woods.
The youngsters made the game look too easy especially, Matthew Marsh, 15, from Richmond golf club, who played exceptionally well to score 44 stableford points off a handicap of just five. However, it was Marcus Potter (Wensleydale) who stole the show and scooped the top prize of a portable CD player with a tremendous 51 points playing off 30.
Winners and runners-up down to fourth place in all handicap divisions were awarded with superb prizes courtesy of competition sponsors J and H A Jenkins and additional prizes were awarded to non handicap golfers and those making their first appearance in competitive golf.

Harrogate's Academy maintained their record of winning promotion every season since joining the league five years ago.
They clinched the runners-up spot in Division Two by inflicting a 7-2 defeat on newly crowned champions Bedale.

Spa maintained their three year unbeaten run when they clinched the Third Division title following Spa's 8-1 win over West Tanfield and a 5-1 away victory at Knaresborough A.
Behind Spa the battle for a second promotion spot is being fiercely contested with Harrogate Racquets, Knaresborough and West Tanfield all on 19 points.
In Division Four Dacre A have clinched the title ahead of Raskelf. Both sides finished with 24 points but Dacre took the championship on a better rubbers' average, despite losing 5.5-3.5 at Raskelf in their latest match.
