Guisborough settled for a drawn at Hartlepool on Saturday, but could count themselves unfortunate when bad light stopped play with the home side nine wickets down.
Guisborough sent into bat, received an early shock when they lost two quick wickets for just 11 runs but Shaw and Dunn retrieved the situation with a 50 partnership before the latter was out leg before.
Shaw then shared a big stand with Graham Murray, the youngest of four cricketing brothers. Although dropped at seven, Murray went on to score his first 50 in the premier division, playing an innings of great maturity.
Shaw in full flow scored his third century of the season, his 125 included two sixes and 14 fours and the pair shared a stand of 174 to bring Guisborough's total to 242 for five.
Hartlepool were on the defensive from the start due to an explosive opening spell of bowling from Paul Goodchild, who took the first five wickets for 31 runs from 12 overs.
As wickets continued to fall Guisborough's chances of victory were foiled by an eighth wicket stand of 74 but as another wicket was claimed the last pair hung on in the fading light before the umpires stopped play with five overs left and the home side finishing on 150 for nine.
Guisborough are at home tomorrow to Normanby Hall and on Sunday entertain Thornaby
