THE Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union and Brymon Airways have signed a partnership agreement to represent all the airline's staff except pilots.

Approximately 540 employees are likely to be covered.

Following detailed discussions with a number of trade unions seeking to represent Brymon employees, the company has concluded agreements with the British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) to represent pilots, and with the AEEU/Cabin Crew 89 union to represent all other staff.

"The selection of the AEEU/Cabin Crew 89 union was made with the full involvement of staff representatives throughout the company", said Brymon's managing director, Louise Fowler.

Sir Ken Jackson, general secretary of the AEEU, said: "This is a very forward-looking agreement, making consultation and training key objectives for the future."

Ms Fowler added: "We now look forward to a close working relationship, aimed at enhancing the company's excellent track record of employee relations.

Brymon is the largest operator of scheduled services from Newcastle International Airport.
