CATTLE breeding specialist, Jim Scott, has joined Supersires to look after the company's sales activities in the North-East.
He will be visiting farms and discussing herd breeding plans in North Yorkshire, Durham, Northumberland, and part of Cumbria.
Based in Durham, Mr Scott has over 40 years of experience in the cattle breeding industry. A farmer's son, he grew up on a mixed farm and started his career with the Milk Marketing Board as an AI technician.
He then moved on to be a breeding adviser and gained a wealth of experience about the performance of different genetics in a range of herds.
"Even though milk price is low, farmers still want good quality bulls," said Mr Scott.
"But they also want value for money. It is important that the right selection of bulls is recommended for each herd, to suit the management and feeding systems.
