THE Clarion's sister paper, The Northern Echo, joined forces with one of the region's most popular racecourses at the weekend to provide a top day of racing and fun.
Redcar Racecourse hosted the event, and it was sponsored by the Echo.
The day's fun included a TFM roadshow, circus acts, bouncy castle, jazz bands, clowns and magician as well as a host of quality racing.
One of the highlights of the day was The Northern Echo Handicap Stakes over six furlongs, a race with £10,000 prize money.
Another of the main races was The Clarion Handicap Stakes, named after The Clarion free newspaper now owned by Newsquest North-East, The Northern Echo's parent company. The paper is distributed throughout the Redcar, Marske, Saltburn and Dormanstown area.
The Clarion Handicap Stakes, run over one mile and three furlongs, also boasted a prize of £10,000.
