MORE than 100 Teesside teenagers were waved off from Middlesbrough yesterday as they set off for the biggest youth sport event of the year.
The 13 to 15-year-olds were off to Southampton for the British Athletics Association Millennium Youth Games national grand final.
The Teesside sport team is taking part in tennis, football, girls' rugby, netball, hockey, swimming, basketball and athletics.
Jean Lordon, team manager, said more than 7,000 young people would be taking part in the finals.
She said: "It will be an exciting, action-packed schedule."
