THE chance to win a slave for a day will be one of the main attractions at a fire station open day.
Firefighter Stephen Reed has volunteered to be a raffle prize for the family fun day being held at Newton Aycliffe Fire Station.
He will perform any household tasks for whoever wins him in the raffle.
One lucky child will also get the chance to be a firefighter for the day as the top prize in another raffle.
The lucky winner will get a ride on a fire engine and a chance to use some of the equipment at the station, topped off by a trip to McDonald's for a meal.
Other attractions include the chance to have a photograph taken in firefighting kit, prize draws, bottle stalls, a cake stall, and toys to buy and to win.
There will be plenty of equipment to look at, and demonstrations including tackling chip pan fires, breathing apparatus rescues and line rescues from the drill tower.
Money raised on the day will got to charity, divided between the national benevolent fund for firefighters who have been injured or died leaving widows and orphans, and the Newton Aycliffe After Stroke Club.
The open day is being held on Saturday, September 2, from 10am to 4pm.
