A REDCAR teacher has been given an award which recognises his success teaching religious education to youngsters with special needs.
Taliesin Nye is the RE coordinator at Kirkleatham Hall School, Kirkleatham Village, and has been presented with a Farmington Institute Special Needs Millennium Award, funded by the Millennium Commission.
The aim of the awards is to provide RE teachers with an interest in special needs, and to inspire special needs teachers to develop the way RE is taught to youngsters with special needs
The award will allow him to undertake study and research at the RE Centre, at the York campus of the University of Ripon and York St John.
His chosen topic for research is to explore how and why teachers promote the spiritual and moral development of children with severe learning difficulties
