GRANTS were awarded to promising young sports people from across Wearside in a ceremony at Sunderland Enterprise Park.
Sponsored by Sunderland Sports Council and motor dealer Bristol Street Motors, the awards were presented in recognition of achievements.
Among the winners was Hazel Robson, 20, the 400 metre disabled athletics world record holder.
Other grants went to under-15 North-East sprint champion, Craig Glanville, England junior boxing champion Tony Jefferies, 15, and Adam Brown, 13, number one rated Durham table tennis cadet.
