DETECTIVES were last night questioning two men arrested in connection with the death of a man found with serious head injuries in a city centre street.
Kevin Forman, 32, a shop fitter, who was well known around Newcastle city centre, was found injured near the telephone kiosks in Newgate Street, Newcastle, on Sunday night.
Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area at about 10.45pm to come forward.
Detectives are studying closed-circuit TV footage which shows a number of people looking and pointing at the direction of the kiosks at the time the attack happened.
Detective Superintendent Derek Storey, who is leading the investigation, said: "We would appeal to anyone who was in the area at 10.45pm to contact us.
"It does not matter if they feel that they have seen nothing.
"We need to identify and eliminate all the people shown on the video footage and then speak to them and check where they are on the video and clarify what they have seen."
