YOUNGSTERS are getting on their bikes in a bid to keep themselves off the streets.
BMX riders and skateboarders at Topcliffe, near Thirsk, aim to buy a ramp for the village recreation area, to give them somewhere to practice their skills. The ramp, which would be about 22ft wide with curves on each side, costs about £2,400.
BMX rider Chris Moores, 15, said: "There is nothing for us to do in Topcliffe. If we're riding on the streets we get shouted at so we want to get a ramp for the park. There are about eight or nine of us and we're still thinking of good ideas of how we can raise the money."
The parish council has agreed to donate £500 towards the project after a presentation by the group
