YOUNGSTERS from the region are preparing for their day at the Millennium Dome.
Their big day is part of the Millennium Youth Project, in which children from every local authority area in the country spend a day in the dome telling other people about their area through a special performance.
In October, it is the turn of children from Redcar and Cleveland to tell the rest of the country about their part of the North-East. They began rehearsals this week for three 20-minute performances.
Their performance of dance and music has a theme of myths and legends, based on the tales of local witch Peg Powler.
It features a cast of 60 young people, backed by musicians from Tees Valley Music Service.
The dancers have been drawn from three youth centres, Marske, West Redcar and South Bank, and four primary schools, Normanby, St Gabriel's, Ormesby and Northgate, Guisborough.
Older children have been drafted in from Hummersea, Loftus and Bydales secondary schools.
Students from Redcar FE College have compiled an exhibition of myths and legends, which will be on display alongside the stage performances.
Redcar and Cleveland's Day in the Dome takes place on Friday, October 13.
