A 35-year-old care home nurse appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of an 84-year-old woman resident.
Alison Firth, from Kingston Park, Newcastle, was arrested and questioned following the death of Alice Grant at the privately-run Aidan House nursing home in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, on May 12.
Firth, who was appearing before magistrates in Gateshead, was working as a nurse at the home at the time of the death.
Northumbria Police launched a murder inquiry after tests showed that the elderly resident had died of unlawfully-administered drugs
