Cleveland & North Yorkshire SCL

Urlay Nook have at least one and a half hands on the league trophy after sweeping aside Marne 160-144. Steve Masters scored a 23 for the Nook, while Tony Masters had a 22 for Marne.

Great Smeaton kept up the pressure with a convincing 183-162 home win over Urlay Nook's next opponents, South Durham and North Yorkshire. Dave Basham scored a 24 for Smeaton, while Harry Valentine notched a 23 for the visitors.

Stokesley moved up a place to third with an impressive 183-167 home victory over Thimbleby. Brian Hodgson, S White and Adam Wallace all scored 24s for Stokesley, while Bill Stockdale, currently leading the veterans' class, and W Laville scored 22s for the Thimbles.

Fox Hall moved from sixth to fourth with a comprehensive 167-138 home victory over Welbury. M Wilkinson and Trevor Salmon scored 22s for the Foxes, while A Oliver and Dave Griffiths had 19s for Welbury.

Oak Lodge beat near neighbours Spennymoor 184-155, with Andy Calvert scoring the league's only perfect of the week for the Oaks and JW Neave scoring a 22 for the Moors.

Thirsk White Horse

The Thirsk swimmers produced 36 personal best times and 30 first placings from a possible 48 when they took the third round of the Ridings League.

Still unbeaten in the league, the team took nine of the first 11 events. Excellent best ever times came from girls club captain Jodie Chamberlain, Caroline Heyworth, Rachel Syers, Alexander Fish, Laura Willis, Debbie Pollard, Gillian Hare, Michael Todd, Megan Hare, Josy Chambers and boys captain Nicholas Coulson.

Hannah Creelman, 15, had her last competitive race before she travels to Coventry for the National Age Group Championships where she will compete against the best age groupers in Great Britain.

Ex-county champion Jason Smith had some good swims and, after a two and a half year stint in Australia, has set his sights on another county title. Other great swims and personal best times came from Thea Wilson, Richard Syers, Oliver Putnam, Emma Wood, Emily Jeff, Chris Riddlestone, Charlotte Merson, Mark Wilkinson and Stuart Cross.

Richmond & Zetland Harriers

A group of ten young athletes from the club travelled to Jarrow for their annual open track and field meeting, where Peter Akers won the 200m final for Under 13 boys in 28.5secs after taking the silver medal in the 100m in 14.3.

The promising Laura McAlhone reached the finals of both the 100m and 200m for U15 girls, finishing fourth in each of them with times of 14.0 and 29.9 respectively. In the U13 girls 100m, Georgina Zissler took the silver medal in 14.5 and followed up with sixth place in the 800m in 2.56.7.

The improving Matthew Prosser ran 13.1 in his heat of the U15 boys 100m and went on to finish fourth in the final of the 200m in 28.5. In the U13 boys age group, Kevin Hooper was sixth in the long jump (3.89m), the 100m and the 200m (32.5).

In the senior 1500m, Andrea Woodvine was third in 5.13.9, while her older sister, suffering from a slight hamstring injury, had to be content with fifth in the 100m in 13.7.

Emma Metcalfe finished third in the U15 girls 75m hurdles in 14.6 and second in the long jump with 4.25m. In the same age group, Amy Baines was fourth in the 1500m in 5.34.9 while Samantha Coulson took the bronze medal in the long jump (4.08m), fourth in the discus (17.85m) and ran 32.1 in her heat of the 200m.
