Bishop Auckland are unbeaten in their first two away games in the UniBond League after a 2-1 win at Blyth on Tuesday.

Bishops had the better of the first half, and took the lead after 39 minutes when Micky Nelson picked up a through ball from Andy Howarth and scored with a right foot shot.

They went two up after 70 minutes when Nelson headed on a corner for Danny Brunskill to volley in. Blyth pulled one back with a powerful strike from Brian Rowe from 30 yards eight minutes from time.

Spennymoor, meanwhile, lost 2-1 at home to Whitby, who have maximum points from their first two games.

Moors took the lead in a goalmouth scramble through Mattie Sowden following a Craig Veart corner, but Whitby levelled through Lee Ludlow from a pass by John Ewart after 57 minutes. Ewart then provided the cross for Ludlow to grab the winner after 68 minutes.

Moors included former Whitby striker Paul Pitman, who was signed from Dunston before the kick off.

In the Northern League, Billingham Synthonia have now scored seven goals in their first two matches after beating West Auckland 4-0. Micky Ward (2), Dave Connor and Kraig Wilkinson got the goals.

Billingham Town won 4-2 at Whitley Bay. Whitley led 2-1 at one stage with goals from Warren Dawson and Steve Cuggy, with Paul Rowntree replying. But Town went 4-2 up by the 49th minute with goals from Rob Hutchinson, Rowntree and James Chapman. Rowntree failed to complete his hat trick when Bay keeper Adam Cleminson saved his penalty ten minutes from the end.

Chester-le-Street ran riot in a 6-0 win at Morpeth.

Durham City beat Easington 2-0 at New Ferens Park, with goals from John Outhwaite and new signing from Gateshead, Richie Alderson.

Guisborough held champions Bedlington to a 1-1 draw at the King George. Guisborough led at half time through a Micky Ward goal from Gary South's cross, but Bedlington levelled through Lawrie Pearson after 75 minutes.

On Wednesday night, Tow Law bounced back from their opening day defeat by thrashing Crook Town 6-0 at the Millfield.

Lawyers dominated the play, with Andy McKenna scoring a hat trick with Marc Eccles, Darren Darwent and Lee Innes.

Seaham Red Star beat Newcastle Blue Star 3-1. David Taylor put them in the lead at the second attempt after 30 minutes, but Paul Storey levelled for Blue Star. Seaham sub Maurice Hilton swung the game in their favour, setting up Steve Smith to score from a rebound off the bar, then Steve Newham with a header.

Marske United have six points out of six after a late header from Chris Reeve gave them a 1-0 victory at Consett.

Jarrow Roofing defeated Peterlee 2-0, the goals coming in the second half from Paul Chow and Craig Stoker. Jarrow had Micky Norris stretchered off with an injury.

Hebburn won 4-3 at Brandon. Micky Cunningham and Mark Pattison put Brandon in the lead with Gary Attwell twice equalising in the first half. Robert Marsden put Hebburn 3-2 up, and although Dave Robson equalised, Kevin Henderson got the winner with six minutes left.In the second division, Shildon lost 2-1 at home to Prudhoe, who took the lead through Gary Nixon. Charlie Walton levelled from the spot, but Peter Robinson got the winner for Prudhoe.

Willington lost 1-0 at home to Horden, Brendan Hampshire getting the winner after 35 minutes.

Northallerton drew 2-2 with Thornaby at Ainderby Road. Robert Anderson and Andy Brown twice put Thornaby in the lead, but Gary Crawford twice equalised.

Alnwick won 1-0 at Kennek Ryhope, Richie Gilbert getting the winner two minutes from time.

South Shields beat Norton 3-0, with second half goals from Paul Thompson (2, one a penalty) and Kenny Davies
