A RECORD number of youngsters have been attending council-run holiday activities in Bedale this summer.
For the past month the town's leisure centre has been buzzing with the sound of children having fun.
Almost 600 youngsters have taken part in the activities so far, and there are still places available on a wide range of courses.
Canoeing and water polo are two of the unusual offerings left this month and the finale next Friday, a pool disco, is expected to make a big splash.
"Our holiday activities have been a runaway success this year," said leisure centre manager Fiona Hughes.
"We have put on a variety of events - some crafty and some sporty - to interest as wide a range of youngsters as possible, and were are delighted that the initiative has worked."
So far, children have tried their hand at horse riding, canoeing, dance, swimming, tennis, and football.
