Elizabeth Adams is looking forward to representing her country after being chosen to compete in an international tournament in the USA.
The Marske 17-year-old flies out to Orlando on Tuesday where she will compete in the World Tetrathlon Youth Championships after impressing in competitions which have been taking place since Christmas.
Elizabeth has competed in events in Switzerand, Swedan, Holland and the Czech Republic in an effort to make the team and in accordance with selection guidlines was chosen for the championships.
The tetrathlon event features four pursuits with swimming, shooting, fencing and a 3000m run all being contested in Elizabeth's U19 age group.
With several successes behind her it is to nobody's surprise that she will be taking the trip to the USA because during the last nine months Elizabeth has won the British Triathlon Championships in her age category and finished third in the British Tetrathlon Championships.
In 1999 she was in the British squad which travelled to Barcelona for the European Youth Trialthlon Championships and has been a regular in the team ever since.
Such has been Elizabeth's progress she was invited to train with the British Modern Pentathlon Team who were undergoing preparations before their departure for the Olympic Games in Sydney.
The women's team are highly-rated so her time with them will have been a good experience will have been.
Elizabeth started competing through her membership at Saltburn and Marske Swimming Club where she built up a record of national placings in Biathlon and Triathlon championships.
An added bonus to being picked for the championships is that the team will be accommodated in a Walt Disney Resort, therefore a trip to Disney World is on the agenda!
