FIRST, the good news: Quakers are unbeaten so far this season. Now the bad: they have not won either.
Gary Bennett's boys made it three draws in a row when a 1-1 draw with Exeter City at Feethams on Saturday was followed on Tuesday night with an exciting 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Worthington Cup first round, first leg.
Against Forest, Darlington took the lead when 18-year-old striker Gary Williamson, starting for the first time, was brought down in the box and Stuart Elliott scored from the spot.
Chris Bart-Williams followed suit to equalise five minutes later, but Quakers went ahead again after the break through Glenn Naylor. This time the lead lasted ten minutes before Alan Rogers' shot was cruelly deflected past debutant keeper Frank van der Geest.
The return leg is at the City Ground on Wednesday, September 6.
Against Exeter, a Craig Liddle header was cancelled out by Andy Roscoe's deflected free kick.
Tomorrow, Quakers travel to Southend United, while on Tuesday they tackle Plymouth Argyle at Feethams.
