CHILDREN from Stockton joined sailing courses at the Castlegate Quay, as part of the Stockton sports development summer coaching programme.
Other activities have included canoeing, tennis, cricket, basketball, orienteering, lifesaving, badminton, athletics, girls' football, swimming, and table tennis.
Jean McCartney, Stockton Borough Council's sports development officer, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for children to take part in an organised programme of sporting activities. If the autumn sports coaching programme is as successful as the summer's then it will be something to look forward to."
The autumn programme, for children aged between seven and 14, will run from October 23 to 27, with rugby, hockey, orienteering, squash and rock climbing on the agenda.
