RAF chaplain the Reverend Alan Coates left his posting on a wing and a prayer as he handed over to his successor.
Squadron Leader Coates said goodbye to RAF Leeming in a Hawk training aircraft piloted by station commander Group Captain John Cliffe.
The farewell trip took the Church of England padre over the coast of Norfolk on a simulated interception flight.
Sq Ldr Coates is to join RAF Stafford in Staffordshire and he will be replaced by the Reverend Adrian Gatrill
