A WOMEN'S Aid worker in north Durham has appealed for women to come forward to help in the fight against domestic violence.
The worker, who asked not to be named, said women were desperately needed to join Derwentside Women's Aid's management committee, a charity that helps women and children whose lives are affected by domestic violence.
"We need strong and committed women to join and help us," said the spokeswoman. "She would need to oversee the work of the project staff, ensure working practices are completed and attend meetings."
Management meetings are held once a month and last two to three hours. Volunteers with two to three hours to spare for general work are also needed. Call (01207) 508300.
