PEOPLE in Hartlepool are being encouraged to help in a hunt for folklore and reminiscences about the town's historic Headland.
A project has been set up to develop a public arts and environmental improvement strategy for the Headland which aims to capture the spirit and history of the area. The work is part of the ongoing regeneration of the Headland funded through the Government's Single Regeneration Budget.
Earlier in the summer, a public meeting was held for people to share their memories about the Headland's history and folklore.
Now the project consultants are meeting the Headland Local History Group to tap into their knowledge of the area - and other Headland residents are being encouraged to come along to the meeting as well.
The memories will be used as the inspiration for improvements which could range from decorative railings and public artwork, to larger community-led projects.
Coun Kevin, town councillor for the Headland and chairman of the history group, said the meeting should be interesting and stimulating.
"We are really looking forward to sharing our knowledge with the project consultants.
The Headland has a rich heritage, which we can all be proud of and celebrate. I hope as many local people as possible will attend."
The meeting takes place tonight, at Constable's Bar in the Borough Hall at 7pm.
