AN unusual stage performance in which the performers are also the audience is been staged in the North-East.
Newcastle Live Theatre artist in residence Paul Moss has created an art installation called Jack in the Box, which will be on display on the stage in the theatre's auditorium.
The piece, a large box containing a living room-style set, will contain various artworks created by Paul.
As members of the audience step inside the room and begin to investigate its contents, their actions will be monitored by four CCTV cameras. This will be relayed live back to screens in the theatre so that those waiting to investigate will be able to scrutinise the actions of others.
The work is the culmination of a three-month-long Year of the Artist residency, during which Paul has explored his interest in the relationship between visual art and theatre.
Admission to the performance, which runs from 10am-8pm to Friday, is free.
Live Theatre is on Broad Chare, just off the Quayside, opposite the Law Courts
