THREE stalwart members of a Teesside community are to be remembered in a special award.
The trio, all leading members of the Whale Hill Community Association, died last year.
The widows of chairman Bill Collins, vice-chairman Jack Wilkinson and treasurer John Storey watched the hand-over of a shield to new chairman Ken Cooper.
Association secretary Audrey Lloyd said: "It was a terrible year for the association, but we believe the shield will be a fitting tribute to the efforts of these hard-working men. The association wanted to honour the people who are helping our community in a voluntary way.''
The shield, which was presented by Redcar and Cleveland Council Mayor Coun Arthur Dobson, will have pride of place in Goathland Road centre.
