PEOPLE in Chester-le-Street and Houghton are being urged to get into the holiday spirit by enrolling at college.
Next month, Washington Business College launches a two-year course in travel and tourism, which could lead to jobs in the airline business, travel agencies and local visitor attractions.
Applicants for the Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (double award) could also move into higher education, HNDs and degree programmes.
The course, also available as a single award over one year, is part of the Government's Curriculum 2000 scheme aimed at offering an alternative to the traditional A-level route.
The college is hoping to build strong links with local travel firms, as it gets the course off the ground.
