PLANS to create an angling lake have run into objectionss from the Environment Agency, which believes the lake could increase flooding risks elsewhere.
The lake proposal, for a site at Greystones Farm between Goldsborough and Knaresborough, in North Yorkshire, will be considered by the Knaresborough area planning committee of Harrogate Borough Council, on Tuesday.
Planning officers are recommending deferral for approval, with conditions.
The Environment Agency says development would be contrary to the Harrogate and District Local Plan. However, it says it might withdraw objections if compensatory flood storage can be provided, but it would want access maintained along the river bank, as well as ensuring the bank's stability is not put at risk.
A planning spokesman said the applicants were aware of the plea and amended plans are expected.
