MEN drivers are being invited to go macho for charity.
They are being challenged to climb out of their cars and into the big, bad and the bulky, from Army trucks and heavy lorries to fire engines.
The Marie Curie Cancer Care charity is asking men to turn up at Albermarle Army Barracks at Newcastle, with a full driving licence, on Sunday, October 1, and climb into the cab of a lorry, test their manoeuvring abilities and driving skills, while raising money for the charity.
Carol Oliver, area fundraising manager for Marie Curie, said: "The response to this event has been tremendous so far. It's amazing the amount of men who want to get behind the wheel of a fire engine or HGV and leave those criticising women at home.
"We only have 200 places and hope to raise over £30,000 for the Marie Curie Nursing Service in the North-East."
