Marske athlete Elizabeth Adams is in America this week to compete in the World Tetrathlon Youth Championships.
The 17-year-old was chosen to represent her country after competing in events in Switzerland, Sweden, Holland and the Czech Republic.
The tetrathlon event features four pursuits with swimming, shooting, fencing and a 3000m run contested in Elizabeth's U19 age group.
During the last nine months Elizabeth has won the British Triathlon Championships in her age category and finished third in the British Tetrathlon Championships.
She was in the British squad which travelled to Barcelona last year for the European Youth Triathlon Championships and has been a regular in the team ever since.
Such has been Elizabeth's progress, she was invited to train with members of the British Modern Pentathlon Team who were undergoing preparations before their departure for the Olympic Games in Sydney.
The women's team are highly-rated so Elizabeth's time with them will have provided valuable experience.
Elizabeth started competing through her membership at Saltburn and Marske Swimming Club, where she built up a record of national placings in Biathlon and Triathlon championships.
An added bonus to being picked for the championships is that the team is being accommodated in a Walt Disney Resort, so a trip to Disney World is on the agenda.
Elizabeth is keen to find sponsorship to assist her in her sporting career. Anyone who can help should telephone (01642) 481063
