CAMPAIGNER Pat Daglish has exceeded the 6,000 mark with her petition aiming to put pressure on the Government to speed up compensation payments for sick miners.
Ms Daglish, from Stanley, County Durham, began her petition less than three weeks ago in the wake of The Northern Echo's Justice for the Miners Campaign.
Her miner father, Thomas, died from lung disease caused by coal dust before he received a full compensation payout.
It is hoped the petition will be presented as part of a dossier to government Energy Minister Helen Liddell.
The dossier will include case studies and evidence gathered by The Northern Echo into the compensation scandal.
More than 110,000 miners nationwide have submitted claims for illnesses caused by coal dust but only one has received a full payment.
Ms Daglish said: "The message remains clear.
"These men should not be allowed to die before they receive their money
