Simonside, who had made a promising start to the season, found their match when they visited Redcar Town on Monday night. The Seasiders were in top form and two players rifled hat-tricks in an 8-1 victory.
Paul Nozedar struck four times, Paul Tait netted on three occasions and Simonside's woes were compounded when Jonathan Stott found the net in the last minute. The visitors' only reply came from Scott Baxter.
Stokesley played twice in midweek, defeating Cleadon 3-2 with goals from Neil Gawthorpe, Richard Buller and Matthew Homan with Mike Hutchinson and Simon Markie replying for Cleadon.
In Wednesday's fixture, however, Stokesley visited Harton and Westoe and lost 3-1 when their only goal came from Craig Johnston. Jonathan Wightman, Michael Meek and Paul Dowsey earned the home side the points.
Wolviston enjoyed two victories, following up their 1-0 success at Boldon CA when Brian Wake scored with a thunderous 25-yard drive by defeating Simonside 2-1.
Redcar Town also won on Wednesday to make it two wins in three days. After falling behind to a Craig Marron penalty, the Seasiders scored twice.
Boldon CA bounced back to form in their second game with a 3-1 victory at home to Jarrow who took the lead early in the second half courtesy of a Jimmy Booth free kick. Steve Wilkinson quickly levelled and Boldon finished strongly with further goals from David Hopper and Wilkinson.
North Shields maintained their early-season challenge for honours defeating Whitehaven with a late goal from Neil McCulloch before winning 2-0 at Cleadon when Barry Gibson and the former Annfield Plain striker Jason Mumford found the net.
Darren Mitchell, Ian Johnson and Kevin Woods enabled New Marske to take the points from Jarrow who scored twice through Eddie Patterson and David Kilford.
Windscale, another of the early-season pace-setters, saw off the challenge of Harton and Westoe when Stephen Hodgson, Kevin Law, Howard Kirkbride and Graham Rumney all hit the target. Stephen Edmund was twice on the mark for the visitors.
Thornaby were in scoring form at home to Stanley United, winning 6-4. Terry Spence rifled a hattrick and Brian Rees also scored for Stanley.
