ONE OF the most popular radio presenters in the North-East has quit his position and left the region.
Tony Horne, who presents the breakfast show on Metro Radio, stunned station bosses when he handed in his resignation in July.
Mr Horne, 29, who joined the radio station three years ago, building up a strong following, made his last broadcast yesterday.
Station managing director Mel Booth said last night staff had been saddened by the manner of his leaving. He said: "Sadly, we feel utterly let down and I'm sure his loyal listeners will be."
Mr Booth said he believed the Chessington-born presenter would join Century Radio in Manchester.
Mr Horne could not be contacted for comment.
