A SOFTWARE firm is celebrating after landing a quarter of a million pound deal that has the North-East written all over it.
The contract is for Durham-based JBA North East to install sophisticated planning software and a warehouse management package at the Consett plant of Pimpernel, world famous for placemats.
The new planning software will enable Pimpernel to improve its performance through close analysis of its production, ordering and planning operations.
The warehouse management system will use radio frequency via hand held terminals and will increase the accuracy and time efficiency within the company's 30,000 sq ft warehouse.
David Holland, finance director of Pimpernel said: "Our company has experienced significant growth over recent years and we had completely outgrown the previous system.
"We believe that e-commerce will form an integral part of our future strategy and that JBA's systems will give us the ability to read for ourselves this advancement."
The £250,000 contract involves the provision of hardware, software, professional services and maintenance.
