THE body of a woman motorcyclist killed in a road accident in the North-East is being flown to her native New Zealand for burial.
An inquest into the death of Deborah Ann Philpott was opened and adjourned yesterday by North Durham Coroner Andrew Tweddle .
Ms Philpott, 31, a marketing manager, lived at Coxhoe, near Durham City, with her partner.
The inquest was told that she had been riding in a line of motorcyclists who were overtaking several cars, when she clipped a white Citroen Saxo travelling in the opposite direction and lost control of her Honda 600cc bike.
The accident happened on the A689 between Stanhope and Eastgate, in Weardale, County Durham, on Sunday afternoon.
Ms Philpott, was taken to Durham's Dryburn Hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Saxo, a 60-year-old man from Chester-le-Street, was unhurt.
Police investigating the accident want to speak to the driver of an ATS van which was travelling west on the A689 at the time. Witnesses should telephone 0191-386 4929.
