POLICE have charged or cautioned a dozen people in connection with a street disturbance in a Tyneside village.
At one point 100 people were involved in the trouble, in Winlaton, Gateshead.
Officers from Gateshead West had to call in reinforcements from Newcastle and Gateshead East to deal with fighting, which erupted at 10.30pm, on Sunday, near the Vulcan pub.
A special constable was taken to hospital with a broken nose. Those arrested, including adults and youths, were questioned at different police stations across the Northumbria force area yesterday.
