A MIDDLESBROUGH-based delivery service has won a two-year contract to supply frozen ready meals to clients of Redcar and Cleveland social services.
Wiltshire Farm Foods has successfully added the borough to its existing Hartlepool and Darlington contracts in the face of stiff competition from several national frozen meals delivery companies.
Wiltshire Farm Foods is owned by the apetito group, which produces a range of frozen ready meals, desserts and pastry products.
"I am delighted to have been awarded this contract," said Dave Morton, who runs the local operation.
"Over the past five years the company has grown from just two to ten employees. The award of the new contract is recognition of the service we provide and the quality of meals the apetito group supplies."
He added: "Having high-quality frozen ready meals delivered direct to the home is proving increasingly popular. Our service allows customers to maintain their independence by choosing exactly what and when they want to eat. In addition, the meals are highly nutritious and enable people to enjoy a healthy, varied and balanced diet."
The meal delivery service is ideal for people of all ages and offers a cost-effective solution to the inconvenience of travelling to and from the shops, carrying heavy bags and planning and cooking meals.
