HUNDREDS more children in Hartlepool could benefit from a scheme designed to give them the best start in life.
The town has been invited by the Government to prepare a second Sure Start programme for its northern area.
The programme, which is already being planned for the south, involves the council working with health chiefs and other organisations to improve services for families.
If the project is given the go-ahead it will work alongside a mini education action zone proposed as part of the Excellence in Cities Scheme to improve learning in urban areas
