A 23-year-old trainee jockey was further remanded in custody yesterday on a charge of murdering father-of-two Gary Walton, whose body was found in the garden of a pub in July.
Christopher McGrath, of Brancepeth Manor Farm, Brancepeth, Durham City, is expected to appear again before Sedgefield magistrates at Newton Aycliffe on September 20, when he is expected to be committed to Crown Court for trial.
Mr Walton, 37, a former Newcastle United apprentice player, was found dead at the rear of the Miners Arms, near his home in Collingwood Street, Coundon, on July 17
