Darlington boss Gary Bennett last night warned his side against complacency as they face two tough trips in the space of four days.

The Quakers visit Shrewsbury today and then Cheltenham on Tuesday and Bennett is keen for his players to be focused after their Worthington Cup heroics against Nottingham Forest.

Darlington gained a superb 4-3 aggregate win over the first division side to book a second-round meeting with Bradford City.

But Bennett said: "The league is our bread and butter, the nitty gritty, and that's what we have to concentrate on.

"The cup games are great nights but we want to get out of this league and that is our priority.

"I have told the players that and they know themselves.

"Sure it was great to beat Forest, but that game is now over and we have to concentrate on what's to come with Shrewsbury and Cheltenham. They are going to be hard, physical games and we have to be prepared for them.

"It doesn't matter who we play against, we have to be up for it and I want to win every game."

Shrewsbury have made a disappointing start to the new season but gained their first league win last week by beating Hartlepool United 3-1 at Victoria Park.

Strikers Nigel Jemson, who scored twice against Pool, and Chris Freestone will both pose a threat to the Darlington backline along with lively winger Sam Aiston, a summer purchase from Sunderland.

"It will be a hard game," said Bennett. "They gained a good result at Hartlepool last week but you just don't know how badly Hartlepool played or how good Shrewsbury were."

Bennett is taking a 21-man squad to Gay Meadow with the Cheltenham game also in mind.

He is likely to reshuffle the side which started the game against Forest and bring in some of his more experienced players.

Midfielder Stuart Elliott, who scored the winner in the cup clash, should start as he is suspended from the Cheltenham trip.

Defenders Neil Aspin and Paul Heckingbottom, strikers Ton Kaak and Lee Nogan, goalkeeper Andy Collett and midfielder Glenn Naylor have all recovered from injuries.

Bennett admitted he has selection problems after the fine performances of his young stars in midweek with Mark Angel, Richard Hodgson, Carl Pepper and Gary Williamson all impressing.

"It's nice having competition for places," said Bennett. "It shows there is a healthy squad here and that's what I like."

Shrewsbury will be bidding for their first home league win of the season and boss Kevin Ratcliffe is expecting a battling performance from his side
