Marske United 3
MARSKE United moved into the next round of the FA Cup with a win over fellow Albany Northern League side South Shields.
For much of the first period the football was fairly mundane but the game sparked to life when Shields took the lead on 38 minutes when Paul Thompson headed home.
United livened up and immediately gained a penalty which John Woods converted.
The second period saw the Seasiders pick up the pace and after a number of good saves from Caffrey in the visitors' goal, United took the lead.
Mark James made good space on the right and crossed for Steve Hampton to head home.
The visitors were now struggling as Hodgson and Neilson ran the midfield and Woods completed the scoring from a Hampton cross.
Team: Mohan, Melling, Knight, Robson, Kinnair, Hodgson, Neilson, James, Sankey, Hampton, Woods. Subs Reeve (20), Bell (83).
United visit Durham City tomorrow, kick off 3pm. They visit Hebburn in the league cup on Wednesday, kick off 7.30pm.
