SOLDIERS from the country's largest Army base are setting their sights on a new world record.
A team of eight from Catterick Garrison, in North Yorkshire, will be aiming to set a new military speed march record at the Great North Run next month.
The challenge is being tackled to raise £5,000 for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
The money raised will go towards sponsoring two guide dogs, one of which will be dedicated to the memory of Mick Wardle, who was accidentally killed on his 23rd birthday in March, 1996.
Team leader, Sergeant Harry Harrison said: "Having had the pleasure of serving with airborne forces for several years and also working with soldiers of very high fitness levels, I am convinced the record we set will not be broken for many years to come."
