SAILOR Ashleigh Doran is back in British waters following operations around the Falkland Islands.
Operator mechanic Ashleigh, 23, of Sunderland, was aboard HMS Southampton on deployment in the South Atlantic where the ship supported British forces. Her duties were supervising the operations room and working in the computer room.
The ex-Thornhill Comprehensive School pupil will now take part in exercises with other Nato countries while her ship patrols UK waters. With other members of the Abovewater Warfare team she is regarded as the eyes of the Type-42 destroyer.
Ashleigh said: "I joined HMS Southampton after six months shore side on a promotion course, but having experienced long deployment previously I was able to fit in quickly to life back at sea."
