Billingham Synthonia lifted the Haith Cup when they defeated Wolviston at Seaton Carew. Wolviston were all out for 129 as Keith Martin captured four for 59 and Martin Cull three for ten before Chris Atkinson carried his bat as the Synners won comfortably, losing two wickets.

l BLAYDON won the all Foster's North East Premier League final in the Matthew Oswald Cup, defeating Chester-le-Street at Durham City.

The Cestrian realised 184 all out with former Durham City opener Quentin Hughes making 35 while youngster Gary Hunter who last season played for Consett added 42. Stephen Humble with another outstanding performance, claimed four for 37 and Colin Campbell had three for 50.

Ian Sommerville (51) and Mark Drake (26) appeared to have put Blaydon into a strong position when they went into bat but wickets fell and it needed a partnership between Gary Stewart (25) and Campbell (23no) to earn Blaydon an exciting victory.

l John Maughan was man of the match when Evenwood inflicted a four wickets defeat on Murton in the Joe Pounder Cup final at Sacriston.

Maughan claimed seven for 55 and despite Glen Riddle scoring 43, Murton were back in the pavilion with 98 runs on the board.

Maughan then made 36 as Evenwood won with four wickets in tact.

l A low scoring game at Sedgefield ended with Horden defeating Esh Winning by three wickets in the final of the Captain Ramsden Shield. Esh were restricted to 89 for eight but Horden had to fight hard for victory achieved mainly through ex-Durham City batsman Adrian Hedley, who made the game's top score of 38.

l The Granindon Cup was won by Crathorne at Northallerton. After Barnaby Heap had top scored with 62 in Crathorne's total of 160 for eight, Silton were all out for 78 as Leng and Clemmitt both took three cheap wickets
