Thirsk Vikings have consolidated their position in the Teesside Basketball league first division.

They were unable to maintain the outstanding success of their debut season which saw them collect two cup championships as well as winning the second division title.

The squad for the coming season needs to be strengthened following the departure of several key players such as Alan Barker to university.

Alan joined the club having developed his skills under the guidance of Thirsk School's Matt Messias and went on to score 713 points in two seasons picking up the MVP award from the club in the process.

Whilst this has achieved one of the club's key objectives, that of providing a bridge between school competition and the senior game, this has now led to a requirement for the club to recruit players of all abilities to build up the squad for the coming season.

Former players from both Thirsk and Allertonshire schools as well as any new-comers to the area would be made welcome. The club can offer coaching to develop new skills and to enhance old ones.

Training sessions take place each Monday evening at 7pm during term time at Thirsk School, Topcliffe Road, Thirsk.
