Linda Bowman and Sarah Hill have made cricketing history by playing for Witton- le-Wear in the Nat West Darlington and District League.
It was the first time the side had included two females on the same occasion Linda, 21, became interested in cricket when she met her fiance David Penfold a couple of years ago. He is the grandson of Witton-le-Wear's groundsman David Penfold and Linda quickly became interested in the game.
"I really love cricket and enjoy playing.
"It is always interesting whatever is happening in a match and I hope to improve my game," said Linda, who has now played four times for Witton-le-Wear second team.
She celebrated scoring her first run in Saturday's match against Spennymoor but promises there are more to come!
Sarah is 23 and has always been involved with Witton-le-Wear.
Her dad Mike also plays for the club and although Sarah has so far played just once, she too is interested in mapping out a career in the game.
"It was great to play with Linda and I am itching for the chance to turn out again. I know that there are few all-female teams in the area and I would be interested in joining one of them.
"I was brought up with the game because of my Dad's involvement and who knows maybe I will follow in his footsteps!" said Sarah.
