A CHARITY is reaching out to carers with two events aimed at providing information on how they can get more support.
The Durham and Chester-le-Street Carers' Project is hoping to raise awareness of information and support services for carers of people with mental health difficulties, or those with eating disorders.
Care support worker Alison Spacey said: "Caring for someone who has a mental health difficulty or eating disorder can be extremely emotionally demanding and carers can often feel like they can't cope.
"Problems can be made worse if carers don't see themselves as carers.
"This can be because they may be providing more emotional support rather than more practical elements such as bathing and feeding."
An evening aimed at carers looking after people with mental health problems will be held at Shakespeare Hall in Durham, from 6.30pm-8pm on September 25.
Carers of people with eating disorders are invited to the same venue from 6.30pm-8pm on October 3
