A BALLOON lost at a Newton Aycliffe park during a summer festival has landed in Norway.
Great Aycliffe Town Council gave away hundreds of balloons to children during the Summer Festival of Fun, in Newton Aycliffe parks.
Many balloons escaped from the grasp of their owners and drifted off. Now one of them, with the council logo on it, has been returned with a letter from Marit and Christian Wyller, who found it near Tetlandsvik, in south-west Norway.
Council official Marie Robinson said: "The couple were rowing on a small mountain lake and saw something orange on the beach.
"It turned out to be a Festival of Fun balloon, and it had some air still left in, so it was quite easy to spot.
"Once back home in Stavanger, they searched the Internet for Great Aycliffe and found the name of Councillor Sarah Iveson, and sent the balloon off to her.
