AN EAST Durham organisation responsible for the health of more than 100,000 people may soon have its own resource centre.
Easington Primary Care Group, which was launched last year, was formed to help develop a better understanding of local health needs.
The group recently held its first open day to display its many achievements over the past 12 months.
The PCG was launched to assess health and social needs in the area, as well as providing relevant services wherever possible.
At the opening, Easington MP John Cummings said the group had made immense strides in relation to primary care in the area.
To further its impact, the PCG is now seeking its own resource centre for primary care development.
Its bid for the base will be considered by a meeting of Easington District Council's Audit Overview Committee tomorrow.
But officers at the council have recommended that a new centre be approved in principle, and have earmarked the site of the authority's own housing building services department as a possible suitable location.
The council office is sited in a temporary building at its local authority complex, and it is likely that members of the committee will agree to a new resource building being contructed in its place.
