WIND and rain failed to deter villagers from gathering for a community photograph to mark the millennium.
People from Evenwood, near Bishop Auckland, met for a snapshot of their community to mark the year 2000, Courtesy of The Northern Echo.
They gathered outside the oldest building in the village, Kays Hall Farm, for the photograph.
All those who braved the blustery weather to be part of the event took the opportunity to talk about other plans for the village during the year.
Parish councillor Margaret Fleming, 78, who was born in the village, said the community was planning to mark the millennium by putting some new benches on the village green.
She said: "It would be nice to mark the year 2000 with some new engraved benches for the village green, and we are also looking at ways of marking our mining heritage, which is why the village came about."
