Marske'S Elizabeth Adams has returned from Orlando, Florida, having performed admirably in the World Tetrathlon Youth Championships.
The 17-year-old, a member of Guisborough Fencing Club and Saltburn & Marske Swimming Club, finished 28th out of 42 competitors. The British girls' team were placed fifth out of 12 teams.
The tetrathlon involved swimming, shooting, fencing and a 3000m run. Elizabeth was disappointed with her performance in the shooting. "I was a bit down, a bit lower than my normal score," she said.
But she made up for this in other events and recorded a time of 2.25 in the swim. "It was what I expected," she said. "And I was pleased with the fencing, I got in some good hits on the Hungarian."
