POPULAR TV and radio presenter Henry Kelly has been lined up to present opera diva Lesley Garrett's North-East Millennium concert.
Mr Kelly is an active member of the Lord's Taverners, the charity that is staging the event at Durham County Cricket Club's Chester-le-Street ground on Saturday night.
He said: "I am proud to be involved with this prestigious classical music event which is supporting a worthy cause. I believe it is taking place at such a fantastic cricket ground. I'm a total fanatic of the game. It is the best game in the world.''
A spokesman for the organisers said: "Henry is an active member of the organisation and along with his love of cricket and classical music he is the ideal person to host the event.''
He will introduce Lesley Garrett and support acts, the Virtuoso Jazz Quintet and Chester-le-Street Civic Choir.
The world-famous soprano will sing highlights from the world of opera and musicals. Tickets for the stand seats have sold out but places on the grassed area are still available at £18.50 each. People are welcome to take chairs and picnic tables. The ticket hotline number is (0191) 4018888.
